A ). Always carry a business card of the hotel you are staying at. You will be able to get back to your hotel in this way when you are lost. It's also advisable to carry a copy of your passport with you and leave the original one locked in the safe of your hotel in the case of emergence.

B ). Buy a map of the city from your hotel, newspapar booths or stores. It costs around 3-5RMB per map.

C ). Only take taxis clearly identified with official markings. Taxi fares vary from city to city. Just make sure that the taxi driver uses the taximeter when you get on the taxi.

D). Prepare the Chinese name or address of the places you want to go in advance. You may need to show them to taxi drivers or passengers for help.

E). Avoid traffic rush hours. The traffic is crazy during rush hours in big cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and etc. It's wise to avoid the rush hours between 7:00am-9:00am and 5:00pm-7:30pm.
