Xian Travel Notes

Travel note- Xian.
As the source of Chinese history, Xian is renowned by numbers of historical attractions, is one of the oldest cities in China, with more than 3100 years of history. It is also one of the four world famous historical cities (the other are Rome, Athens and Cairo).

During the Tang Dynasty, Xian is the center of China for economy, political and culture with more than million people. It was the center of Eastern World as important as Roma in Western World. It is the terminus of Silk Road and the home of Terracotta Army. There are numbers of historical attractions in Xian.

Shanxi historical museum: The Museum is located on the Eastern Xiaozhai Road, to the northwest of Dayan (goose) Tower. It is the first modern national historical museum in China. Its architecture is like the palace with towers and pavilions. Its extensive exhibits are showed by history time in three sections of the museum. The main exhibits date came from the dynasty of Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang with variety of objects including bronze, gold and silver, jade, ceramics and murals etc.

Goose Tower was built in the Tang Dynasty past over 1300 years ago, is situated in the Cien Temple, for storage of the sutra which were brought by Xuanzang master from Western Region. Now it has become one of the famous symbols of Xian.

The ancient City Wall is located in the urban area of Xian city around the center part of Xian. It was built in Ming Dynasty and still remained its original view nicely.

The Terracotta Army is one of the top attractions in China. Hundreds of intricate life-size models represent the arm of Qin Dynasty which united China for the first time. It has significant meaning of architecture and history. Huaqing Pool is a perfect preserved Royal Spa for in ancient China, now it has became a fabulous park. Furthermore, it is the place of Xian Incident.


In addition to its historical scenery, Xian has some magnificent scenic beauty. The most famous one is Huashan Mountain which well known by its beauty of steep. It was one of five most impressive mountains in China, located in 100 kilometers away from Xian. The mountain stretches 15 kilometers from west to east and 10 kilometers from north to south. The altitude of its top peak is about 2154 meters with steep slope. People who want to conquest the mountain must be very carefull.
