What to Pack for China Tour

A. Daily Use:
-In general, China is much more informal than the west regarding dress code. You may just bring some casual clothes as long as it's comfortable. We may also suggest to bring clothing that you can layer to adjust to changable weather.

If you have some formal event to attend, a business suit and tie(for men) and one or two dresses or pant suits(for women) may suffice your needs. Most hotels provide laundry service.
As for performances in your itinerary such as Kung Fu show and Acrobatic show, you could just wear some casual clothes like t-shirts and jeans.

Pack a sturdy and comfortable pair of walking shoes is also advisable as you may have long-time walk on your tour.
Pack sunblock and sunglasses to protect yourself from harmful effects of UV sun rays, especially when you are heading to Tibet. -You may prepare an extra pair if you wear strong glasses. -Pack some toilet paper with you. Upon your arrival, you may find that Restroom facilities in China are very different from those in the west. You may either find that the toilet paper is unlike the one you are used to or be surprised that there is no toilet paper supplied in public restroom.

B). Money:
Bring travelers' checks and one or two major credit cards instead of cash.

C). Medication:
Many similar medications are available in China. But it's a shame to spend time figuring out a local pharmacy rather than exploring the city for fun. So pack a medical kit that will satisfy your needs. Basic medical kits are available at many pharmacy, grocery and retail. It's a good idea to ensure that the medical kit you packed has everything needed. You may bring headache medication, diarrhea medication(it will help a lot when the spicy Sichuan food upset your stomach), diamox or other altitude sickness(when you are planning to travel Tibet), ace bandage for hikers and etc.

D). Documentation:
If your health insurance policy provides coverage in China, pack both your insurance policy identity card as proof of such insurance and a claim form.   Do prepare several copies of your visa and passport as well as a set of standard photos in case of lost or theft. We may also suggest to separate them in different places for the same reason.

E). Contact Numbers:
It is advisable to prepare a contact card with phone numbers that may be helpful during your trip in some urgent situations.
The following is a list for your reference.
-Family member or close contact at home
-Health-care provider at home
-Area hospitals or clinics
-Your country's Embassy or Consulate in China
-Emergency service numbers in China:
110(police),
119(fire),
122(traffic),
120(government owned ambulance service),
999(private ambulance service in Beijing),
122(traffic accident),
114(directory inquires and information),
6525 5486(available for foreigners without any command of Chinese and all types of emergencies), and etc.
